What is the NEET-PG?

The NEET PG stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test and is required for admission to postgraduate medical courses across various colleges in India.

Who administers the NEET-PG?

The NEET PG is administered by the National Board of Examinations (NBE).

Who is eligible to take the NEET-PG?

  • Applicants that possess a valid MBBS degree from an institution recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) or a provisional MBBS pass certificate.
  • Applicants that have a permanent or provisional medical registration certificate issued by the MCI or State Medical Council.
  • Applicants that have completed or are likely to complete one year of internship.

What is the format of the NEET-PG test?

The NEET-PG takes 3 hours and 30 minutes, and is a computer-based test consisting of multiple choice questions within the following subject areas:

How do I register for the NEET-PG?

The application form for the NEET PG test is made available on the official website of the National Board of Examinations (NBE). You will be required to provide your personal and educational details and upload a recent passport size photo (maximum size of 80 Kb, in JPG/JPEG format), signature and left-hand thumbprint.

When should I take the NEET-PG?

The NEET-PG test is offered by the NBE in January of every year. You will be able to register for it online between October and November.

Is there a fee for sitting the NEET-PG?

Yes - the fee is dependent on your specific category. If you fall under General & OBC, the fee is ₹ 3750. If you fall under SC/ST/PwD (PH), the fee is ₹ 2750

Where do I take the NEET-PG?

After submitting the application fee during the registration process, you will be able to submit up to 3 choices for your preferred test city. They are typically allotted on a first come, first served basis.

What happens after I register?

After you have registered and successfully paid the fees online, you will receive your Admit Card. The Admit Card will contain specific information regarding your registration number or testing ID, test date, time and test centre location.

How is the NEET-PG scored?

  • Correct Answers = +4 marks
  • Incorrect Answers = -1 mark
  • Unanswered = 0

What is considered a good score?

Most recently, the NEET-PG was marked out of a total possible 1200 points. The criteria for a good score tends to change every year and is dependent on factors such as the number of other applicants sitting the test, the difficulty level etc.

When will I receive my score?

The NBE is expected to release NEET-PG results on their official website during the last week of January.
